I thought the UF app opened on Aug 1st?

I agree with what has been posted. We went through this process with son last summer and he is now a happy freshman at UF. He was not interested in USF or UCF even though we knew he would have gotten good merit money. They are great schools but his dad and I are alumni, so he wanted to try something different! He was offered merit at FSU but when he was accepted at UF that was it!! They gave no $ and we were not expecting it, so he wrote a lot of private scholarship applications (30!!)and between those awards (he got 10 of the 30!) and his Bright Futures, his first year is paid for:)

Do I need to report all my dates that ive taken the act and sat or can i just give them my best score? I don’t need to superscore.

Im wondering about the act and sat scores too. I don’t want to report any of my sat scores or my current act score :(

Reports all of the dates of scores you’ve SENT to UF. You could give them all of your dates, but the only scores that matter are the ones you send to UF.

You do not have to send ALL of your test results/scores to UF. Just the ones you want to be counted. The AO’s are using the superscored SAT results (or best ACT), they don’t really care if you’ve taken the test 2 or 3 times.

Do you write your resume in formal language or in the same type of language that you write an admissions essay in? Should you be creative about it, maybe tell a story?

So due to the SAR will UF not be using class rank in the admission process?

The student resume section is really a group of short answers and one mini essay. For the ones that require list, you can list out your EC’s, awards, community service, etc. You should explain the EC (if needed) and say how much time you’ve put in to each item.

For example: “Volunteered at the local soup kitchen from June 2012- may 2013; 2 hours/week.” or “Member of club XYZ; club’s goal was to participate in community service, such as X, Y and Z. From 9th grade to 12 grade; 2 hours/week”.

They want to know how much time you’ve put into each EC or community service (if possible).

Highlight any leadership examples/roles and don’t feel you have to use all 950 characters in each section (950 characters to list all of your rewards…lol).

The last question is a mini essay (short answer).

"Describe an experience you have had in creating or developing a solution to a problem that benefited you and others? What aspects made it enjoyable? "

Write it like your essay.

The optional question is a short response option:

“Any other information for the Admission Committee to consider when your application is reviewed?”

This is where you need to list any obstacles you’ve had to overcome, such as health issues, family obligations (had to work at family store, didn’t leave me any time for ECs…) etc.

It’s optional, don’t feel like you have to add something to this section.

Good Luck!

The SAR does ask for your class rank. You do have the option to select “I don’t know” or “my school does use class rank”.

I don’t know how or even if UF will use it. Officially it’s not a key metric (unlike GPA, class rigor and Test Scores), but it is on the SAR.

Thank you so much!

For the SAR- what if your transcripts only say A or B but not A+? Will this affect my re calculated GPA?

No, assuming your high school transcript GPA was calculated using A’s and B’s. You want the SAR to match your transcripts. So if the transcripts usage A’s and B’s, input that into the SAR.

Describe an experience you have had in creating or developing a solution to a problem that benefited you and others. What aspects made it enjoyable?

How am I supposed to answer this question?
Thanks!

Lots of ways to answer that question. Find some example in your past, where working with others, you helped create a solution to a problem (this could be something school relate, church, EC, whatever). Treat it like your essay, which means make sure it’s an answer about YOU and not someone or something else…the hint is “what aspects made it enjoyable”…they want to learn something about you, from how you’ve helped solve a problem.

Good Luck!

Where do you add the information for the people who you want to write you letters of recommendation for University of Florida? I know it says it will send out the information to your recommenders after you send in your application, but i can’t find where to put it.

UF doesn’t consider letters of recommendations (for Freshman applications).
