I live in NJ, and im applying for REGULAR decision to Fordham college at Rose-Hill

Thanks guys, and feel free to be completely honost, i can take it :P. Fordham is my dreeeaam school, my mother went their for two years until she had to drop it because she was a single mother and times were roooouuughh (being honost), so im not quite sure if that makes me a legacy or not but eh.

That ACT score is problematic, and places you in the bottom 25% of accepted students based on last years accepted Class Profile so you have a real uphill battle on that front. GPA is just outside the range, but combined with your other "numbers" is not helping your cause.

That said, you have a very compelling array of EC's. Nice diversity of interest, good leadership, and commitment represented in your post.

You need to convince the adcom that you are up to the rigors of the Fordham experience. Your major and URM status help a bit, but I suspect they would be concerned about your ability to thrive academically so another shot at the ACT with a 6-7 point gain will go a long way in your favor.

Best of luck!

dadoffour, thank you so much for the advice. i'm also reaaaaally concerned with my low act score so im taking them again in february. and im taking my subject tests again in january. im also going to bust my butt so i can increase my gpa by ATLEAST .2-.3ish (bringing it to about 3.7ish hopefully...its kind of hard to increase it since it is my senior year). again, thnx for the advice and if anyone else has any opinions pleze let me know :P

I am currently a Junior at Fordham.

Went to a prestigious HS, had a 89 average, got a 1300 on the old SAT. My EQ's were Indian Dancing (10+years), Newspaper (staff). I took AP Environment (4), AP US History (3) and AP World History (5). Biology M 650, Mathematics Level 1 570

Other than your ACT score your college application is pretty strong. Recently, Fordham has been trying to increase its cultural diversity. Because of your minority status and strong college application you stand a decent chance of getting in. I advise you focus on scoring higher on your ACT. Your GPA is decent, focus on what you're weak in.
