As I was reading one of my books on admission, I came across an example of an essay that failed that left me really p!ssed off afterward. In fact, I was so appalled that I scanned the two pages and put them together just so that you guys could read it as I have. The essay I am referring to is entitled "Greed Is Good."

What a tool.

To make matters worse, the writing laced any flavor. If someone is going to selfish, at least sound good in the process (not that anyone should be selfish).

At least we know they got what they deserved.

It’s Gordon Gekko, not Gordon Gecko (confusion with Martin the Gecko?). I once used Gordon Gekko’s “Greed is Good” quote in an SAT essay, but it was to contrast the values displayed by popular culture (also had Eddie Vedder’s song “Society”, which I agreed with). Plus, Wall Street 2 is coming out soon. Anyway, this person is terrible.

P.S. I think there’s a CC user named GreedisGood

^There is/was a CC user by the name of GreedIsGood. All he did was ■■■■■ and spit out quotes from the movie Wall Street.

1) The essay was poorly written for a college admissions essay.
2) It implies he’s just going to use the prestige of the institution to land a job on Wall Street. The school he is applying is just another “step” in his master plan.
3) Everyone is selfish to a certain extent. I’m sure there are dozens of students who attend Harvard every year who have the same ambitions, but guess what they don’t boast about it.
