I want to apply ED but I need to know more about student life! any advice/opinions?

I'm thinking of applying to Dartmouth ED.
I know that I love its location and small classes...
but what if you don't like to go drinking or go into frat/sorority parties?
What if you are not really that into sports or outdoor activities?

Is there anything else you can do on the campus?

Also, is it possible to do a science research with a professor as an undergrad?

Thanks

if you don’t like drinking there is no pressure…i have a lot of good friends that don’t drink and have a great time

frat parties here are a lot different than frats at other schools…they’re very open and are not the traditional stereotyped frats…most people who go out will go to the frats so it is kind of important to be open to frats, even if you dont drink…there is no pressure to drink in frats but there will be lots of drunk people around you

there are a ton of student groups on campus to get involved in so its not just sports and outdoor activities, although those are huge

i know a '12 who did research at the med school the summer after freshman year and i know a '13 doing research at the med school right now so yes

Here’s a suggestion if you don’t like drinking but want to fit in: Fill a cup of beer half full and just hold it- looks like you drank, but you really didn’t ;).

Pretending to drink is really not necessary on campus. If you enter a frat, there may be some temptation to drink since there are a lot of people around you drinking but no one is out there to force you. And especially during a dance party there is so much other fun to be had.

And there is a lot more to do that sport or greek life. Personally I am in the process of cutting down my club commitments because I am always busy. Believe me being under-scheduled is NOT a problem on this campus.
