I want to be a Sports Agent...Where do I go?

I want to be a sports agent...I love spots and money, it's the perfect job for me. The problem is that I don't know where to attend. Money isn't a factor in where I attend, so I ask you guys/girls...where should I go? I'm a sophmore this year and did well this year and my freshman year. I dont know if these are un-weighted or weighted but last year my "total year gpa" was 3.65 (based on the report card). This year the first 3 quarters are between a 3.6-3.65. My yearly may end up 3.7 depending on how I do this last quarter. My regents grades are Earth Science-90, Math-89. I also play Division 3 soccer on long island, probably moving up to division 2 next year...so it is possible I could pick up a scholorship for that. Thanks for the help.

Let me add that this GPA was found by converting a Percentage. My overall percentage for the year was 88-89 last year and is about the same this year.

law school

You will go to Miami for undergrad business, and then Duke for law school.

At least thats what Drew Rosenhaus did. If I wanted to be an agent, I'd want to model myself after him.

I am assuming you are talking about Miami of Ohio..what type of enviroment is there outside of the campus...I would like to attend somewhere in a city. Coming from Long Island I will kill myself if I go to some where in a rural enviroment.

well, if you live in NY, just go to a SUNY, save some money, and get in somewhere good for law
edit: well, if you want to live in a city, maybe try penn state?

i'd just reccomend going to a state school for undergrad. if you're definitely planning on going to law school, I don't think it's necessary for you to pay a lot of $$$ for the name or anything.

Business for undergrad, then on to law school is the usual track for a sports agent. I would go to a big Division I sports school for the business degree.

I was considering Temple...but I don't know how good their buisness program is...how good is it?

And I know NYU (stern) is good but I dont think I have the grades for it.

FSA, it's not Miami (Ohio). It's Miami (Fl). My advice would be work hard now and get into the best college possible for undergrad. Major in business or economics, which will help you get into a great law school.

Great! I would love to attend Miami...it would be a city and similar to where I live because of the beaches. I think I really want to go there now.

Yeah I was talking about Miami Florida, The U.

Based on your stats, you have a very good shot, just keep working hard. Drew has so much success because alot of his clients are the high profile athletes who played at Miami.

I can definately see myself going there...with the good buisness program, great enviroment, and great sports teams (i love sports), it really seems like it might be a great match for me.

Major in business, finance, econ, etc. (with a possible minor in English) at a solid Flagship State college. Get a 3.5+ in college and then go on to Law school.

What state do you live in?

I live in Long Island, New York. I forgot to mention that next year I am taking Sports Marketing College Credit. Also decided to take Career and Financial Management because I thought it would be good for me. And after this year when I take my language regents I am dropping language. I know colleges like to see as much languages as possible but if I drop it my GPA will go way up, maybe even up to 3.8.

^^he said long island
which is in ny...

Yea, I remember reading that the first time - I just forgot....

Any preference regarding location? Public or private?

I'd still suggest Flagship State U's with division one sports. You may be able to hook an internship through one of their sports programs. If you want to stay on the East Coast...
University of Maryland
UNC- might be a reach coming from OOS
Virginia Tech (not as good as UVa, but still excellent)
University of Florida
Boston College (probably a reach?)
University of Miami (already mentioned)
University of Georgia (see UNC)

Maryland might be a great fit. A lot of people from NY/NJ go down to University of Maryland. Maryland has an outstanding business program and about 30 % of the students are from out of state.

Thanks for the info, me and my family are going to look into all of those schools that you mentioned. I do like Miami because of the beaches and similarities it has with where I am right now.

Miami is NOT like Long Island.

you might want to check this out. im also a sports fanatic and find the program interesting. idk if its possible to say i want to be a sports agent so I will be one. it seems like a profession that one has to be a little bit lucky and requires a few contacts that will help open doors.
