Any tips, right now I have an 86 average(Working hard rn to raise it, since I goofed around during the beginning of my 2nd semester of 9th grade, meaning I still have time to boost it to an A by the end of my freshman year). Even if I do get an A, and do better through the years, will I still have a shot at getting into let’s say…John Hopkins? I know that you need a great ACT/Sat score as well as extracurricular stuff(Not in any right now). Should I try doing something extracurricular next year in 10th, and would that specific college not accept me because I was being lazy during my freshman year? I know I screwed up, but I’m taking my studies a lot more serious now because if I don’t get a good GPA by the end of 9th grade, I can go ahead and kiss my 10th grade+ ranking bye bye. (This’d lower my overall ranking through 9-11th grade, all because of my 9th grade year)Therefore, I won’t get into a good medical college, and I’d be devastated. So, any good tips to move forward and get better as my high school years progress, so I can maybe get a winning shot in getting into a great college for medical studies? I know it’s not that easy, but I have already figured out a solution, I just want to be reassured by the community here.
I’m sorry if this paragraph is confusing, I just typed up whatever was going on in my mind. It’s quite messy, and not organized.
There is no need to pick out specific schools now. Do your absolute best and then apply to schools based on three years of grades, not one semester.
I think you’ve answered your own question. Stop goofing around, keep your end goal in mind, and begin doing the things that adcoms will like to see on your application.
Good luck!
Don’t worry too much. It’s pretty normal for freshman to have below-par grades simply because it can be pretty hard to transition into high school. IMHO an 86 isn’t too bad, and you can bring it up to an A if you buckle down and work hard these next few years. Things will work out in the end.
