hi, my name is john, i am new to this site. i am freshman in my community school. i did really bad in high school, but then i realized how much a good education worth in this country. i want to open up my own business and able to do big thing later on in my life, so i've made promise to myself that i have to do good in school. last semester i got 4.0 and i am doing pretty good so far in this semester. my question is what is the different when you get in to a university from a community college rather than high school? is there test you have to take like the sat in high school? i am a manager in my parents restaurant, does that make me more competitive than others to get into berkeley's haas business program?

i am taking 22 units at my community college and working full time in my parents restaurant right now, i know it is kind of risky. but if i don't get an A in one of my classes, i will drop it before the last dead line, now do the admission really pick on those class that i withdraw or retake?

All I know is that UCs are more accepting of transfer students as opposed from another university so I think you are doing good. But I dont know your chances.

There is a UC Transfers section of this forum, you should go there to ask your question.

The most important thing for Haas is to make sure you meet ALL of their requirements before applying. You need a very high GPA, which you are already getting. Being a manager of a restaurant will probably be a bonus for you, if you can explain clearly in your essay. If you are admitted to Haas as a transfer, you will be on equal footing with someone who enters Berkeley as a freshman. The SAT doesn't count for transfers either. However, admission to Haas is SUPER competitive, even people with 4.0 GPAs are not assured of admission. Good luck!
