I am currently a first semester freshman with a 3.5 GPA. My high school GPA was 3.96 and my SAT score was 1270. I was in the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society and have done a lot of volunteer work and have worked almost my entire high school career. I want to transfer to Umass Amherst from Umass Boston as an accounting or finance major. What are my chances of getting accepted?
If your high school GPA was 3.96, why didn’t you start at UMass Amherst?
If you are a first semester freshman, how do you already even have a college GPA?
You should work very hard and try to get your GPA up. UMass Amherst is going to be more demanding than UMass Boston.
You can apply to UMass Amherst under the Interchange Transfer program, since you’re at UMass Boston. This can help ease the process a bit: https://www.umass.edu/admissions/apply/admissions-requirements/transfer-admissions-requirements
You look good to get into UMass Amherst. I also think you’ll get into the business major.
