Chance Me - Transfer student Umass Amherst Spring Semester 2020

I’m trying to transfer into Umass Amherst for the Spring 2020 semester. I am currently a freshman at UNH. I had a 3.2 unweighted GPA in high school, and a 3.69 weighted. I had an 1220 SAT. I did 200+ hours of community service and was a Varsity sports team captain my senior year. I don’t have any grades from UNH yet but I have been told that since I am a first semester freshman Umass will mainly look at my grades from high school. Chance me please!

Yes, since you’re a freshman, UMass will look at your high school record as well as any college grades that you have in at the time you apply to UMass. Your high school GPA is a tiny tiny tiny bit low for UMass Amherst, and your SAT is good for them. You have a shot based on your high school record.

How are you doing in your college classes? I think the transfer application deadline isn’t until 3/1, so if you’d like, you could wait a bit to apply to UMass, until after you’ve finished this first term at UNH. Do very well in the classes you’re in now, and submit that college transcript with your application. That can help you, if you do well at UNH.
