I was accepted! Now what?

I am extremely excited that I was accepted to the college! Unfortunately, I applied to a number of schools before hearing my acceptance decision. What is the best way of letting these schools know that I have to pull my application? I had a really great relationship with one other school in particular (had dinner with an admissions officer as an informal interview, was chosen to do a paid fly in visit, bonded with a lot of faculty and students) and I'm not sure what the best way to let them know is. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Honesty is the best bet and being professional. First, call that admissions officer you had dinner with and thank them for all their interest and state you wanted to let them now verbally you were admitted to W&M and will be withdrawing your appplication. They may ask questions and or may not but give back honest and professional answers. Same is true of any other school where thier is a personal contact. Then follow up to all in writing with a nice personnal note thanking them for considering you but you have been accepted aand will be attending W&M and wish them best in assembling thier incoming freshman class. Then Buy that W&M sweatshirt!!

I was admitted and I deposited my money.
Now, what else do I have to do?

well, you should get an e-mail thanking you for choosing W&M. and then you wait lol... once you're in you don't have anything to worry about. they'll mail out a list of things that you have to do over summer in like May. so just relax!

Try not to get all Fs in your last semester in high school =)

Honesty is the best policy. And you never know when those other schools may show up in your future, so a courteous letter is the way to go. Most folks will not take it personally; they know that a lot goes into a college choice (and often, it is distance and money!).
