I was accepted to a Women in Engineering Program at Cornell; will it help me get in?

This summer I applied to Cornell's Women in Engineering Program, to be held at the end of this month, and I was accepted. I will have the opportunity to meet with Admissions, so they will be able to put my face to my name when they get my application, but realistically, how does attending this program impact my chances of getting in?

Thanks!

I don’t know about that, but it is going to help you just being a woman! Female admit rate is double that of male rate.

I also got accepted to the WIE program last year and I’m going to host for it this year. Unless something drastic happens to your first semester grades senior year then you will almost definitely get in because of my weaker SAT scores. I didn’t think I would get in. What they basically old us was that they put a little red star on your application. And throughout the program they are basically trying to convince you to apply or at least that’s the feeling I got from them.

If you are debating about whether or not to attend. ATTEND!!! I got so much out of it last year and you get an application fee waiver at the end too (or at least everyone last year did). It was an awesome experience for me and since you got in, you are almost guaranteed that you will get in.

If you have any other questions let me know!

It is likely a little +, but it won’t get a student in who is not qualified. See it as a small bonus, but it’s not going to automatically make you stand out or get in.
