I just got the call today. I've been accepted at St. John's College in Annapolis! I'm elated!!

congrats! (10 char)

Congrats! Will you be attending?

Unless something happens to change my course of action. I'm not really planning on applying anywhere else. -Derek

Congrats! And lol, St. John's is such a quirky school. Aren't they the ones that learn everything by reading classics?

That's awesome to get accepted to somewhere you truly want to go so early in senior year. Enjoy your year, and congratulations!

Nice man. gj

It is a rather quirky school by today's standards. Funny thing is that the curriculum is very classical. It's basically the same as Olde Oxford used to be. I am absolutely relieved to know where I'm going. You have no idea how liberating it is! Thanks for your sentiments! -Derek

Congratulation, at first I thought you meant St.John Cambridge (UK), but on second reading it turned out to be Annapolis. That school is unconventional, but there are many bright students. I was considering St.John because one of my favorite education reformer, Mortimer Adler, helped design the curriculum. I hope you have fun there and learn something Great.

Congratulations!!! You must be so relieved! Good Luck :)

Many thanks!

St. John's is amazing. Good luck.

Are/were you a student?

so early! that's awesome.

Congrats! How early did you apply?

St. John's has a rolling admissions policy. You can apply as soon as your application is complete and they will notify you within two weeks!! I worked on the essays (3 that amounted to 12 pages) during august and I sent in my application on Sept. 18. I called the admissions office on Friday morning to let them know that I'm going out of town next week and to see whether they had reached a decision. Indeed they had.

... people have favorite education reformers?

CONGRATS!!! I was accepted there over the summer (I sent it in late June and got my letter back in mid-July -- indeed, it is only 2 weeks haha)!!!!! I visited and I talked to the adcom there while they were reviewing my application and it was fantastic there!! Have you visited??? I'm so enthusiastic about someone else who wants to be a Johnny lol :) I don't think I'm going to be able to go, however :( We can pay sticker price but my parents REALLY don't want to (who would?) =/

Do you know when we have to send in our deposit, though? It doesn't say, I've been poking it for well over two months. I don't have the heart to say my parents probably won't let me go...

I figure I have till May 1st, though, to convince them. crosses fingers

If only St. John's offered merit scholarships!! :(

Wow, you found out REALLY early! Well done. So I assume you don't qualify for need-based aid? I'm pretty sure you're supposed to send in the deposit by the first week of May. You've got time to make your case! I have visited the school. I absolutely love it! Can't wait!
Fondest Regards, Derek

Nope, pretty sure any need based aid, if any, would be a pretty paltry sum. Which is probably the worst part sigh I suppose I COULD pay for my education by myself (I was particularly desperate and was asking people on the SJC (Annapolis) board for advice lol) but it really seems like too much, esp. considering there's grad school to consider...

Ahh, okay, haha. I don't know why I thought differently... it's probably because it's rolling and I'm just not sure how things work since it's rolling. I'm kind of afraid that if I wait that long, the class would be filled up already, even though I applied so early!! Biggest problem with rolling admission schools, IMO.

I hope to see you there! crosses fingers Here's for hoping for lots and lots of outside scholarships haha :D
