..as to how you guys study for an exam / quiz which requires you to know a book inside-out. Coming from a CCC, I haven't really engaged in this type of studying. Technically, I could get by in a class by just taking good notes in lecture and studying off of those when came exam days. Or, if I didn't really get a concept / idea, I'd just refer to the book, type the definition / meaning in with the rest of my lectures notes and go on from there. While I am reading, I'll write notes in the margins, highlight / underline the main idea(s) of the page, resulting in me having written on every page of the book. Am I being too tedious? This is the reason why I ask such a question. This may sound silly for some of you, but please bear with me.

I refuse to bare with you. I don't know you that well.

I well, however, bear with you.

I never had to know any of my texts inside-and-out. Except for one class. History of Greece with Philip. Holy crud, was that class hard. I want to become a history professor just so I can balance out the karma.

I will, however, bear with you.
Fixed. :P

Apparently, I'm unable to avoid writing like an idiot.
Hey! It's 2 a.m.!

Hey, keep it coming. I enjoy having easy source material. :p

But yeah, don't feel like all of a sudden the learning curve is going to explode into exponential growth hell. It really isn't that bad as long as you up the studying a bit. The marginal returns on full memorization are low anyway. Trust me, I overworked myself the first quarter.

I just want to become a better note-taker, you know?
I feel the transition from a CCC to UCLA is not going to be pleasant.
Perhaps I'm making it seem so. I don't know.
Anyhow, this is the reason why I asked to see how you took notes while you were an undergrad at UCLA.

I think you'll be fine. Just do what feels natural to you and you'll be fine.

Just do what you have been doing before, you obviously got into UCLA because of hard work and good study habits.

If you feel that your study technique isn't helping you keep up with the difficult material, try adjusting your study methods.

Try being consistent with your studying, it doesn't have to be anything serious but if your spend a hour a day just going over notes, worksheets (If they are given out), text, and attend discussions you should be fine

No. Most people do that with their course readers on a regular basis.

I hate writing in my books

I'm a bit weird about it too. I was too well drilled in not writing in books all the way through my childhood.

dumb question.. what does ccc stand for?

is it c(something) community college?

California Community College.

C for California.
