I was "Dimissed" from my exam hall.

Hey guys,

I was supposed to write an ACT residual exam today. However, half-way through my exam, I was “dismissed” from the hall as I wrote on the question booklet. As far as I know, one is allowed to write on the question booklet and it is how I practiced for this exam. However, they claimed that since it was a residual exam, they wanted to “recycle” the question booklet and provided us with scratch paper. This isnt mentioned in the online rules or rules present on the question booklet itself.

Moreover, using scratch paper is strictly prohibited according to ACTs terms and conditions. I took a weeks leave from my school to prepare for the test and paid $109 to take it. What do you guys think I should do?

i know that sat has a complaint line that you can call so maybe act also has one. i dont think theres much they can do but maybe they can get you a refund so you can book the next closest date

Be calm and polite when you speak to the testing agency. Anger and threats, although is likely your personal reaction, but don’t help you resolve the problem. Where you warned about writing on the book at the beginning of resting? How much and what did you write on the booklet? When during testing did this happen? What were the words and demeanor of the proctor? Write down your recolections of this incident before the call so you have facts and the timeline ready for the call. Good
