so everyday i wake up and tell myself i am going to do something productive (ie learn something new, work more at my internship), but then i end up spending the whole day playing starcraft or something. does this happen to anyone else? how do you stop this?

Good question! I do this all the time too! I just end up sitting around and watching TV and texting all day.

I usually say I'm going to do something but I spend all day talking to friends, texting, going on CC, or researching colleges.

Same as OP lol, I play games too much :

uninstall starcrack...i mean starcraft, and tell your parents to hide the CD

HAAHA this is very similar with me, even the same game. I have 2,700 wins on my starcraft account.

I suck at starcraft :(

Same here. I tell myself that I'm going to accomplish something, and I end up spending the whole day posting on College Confidential. :(

Im sort of like you guys, except I tell myself to do stuff, but can't find anything to do :(

i wonder what will happen to you guys when starcraft 2 comes out..

People STILL play Starcraft?!?!?

Christ...

So many of the newer games have died. I haven't gotten a decent multiplayer game since Age of Empires II. Makes me wonder...

==
Anyhow - I think we all can attest to that - some being more extreme than others. Hell I told myself to study neuroscience today (hell, even that's wasting time, since I have math homework to do) but I instead goofed off on the Internet

age of empires II... the first illegal software i ever got

nostalgic

sorry, i'm a heavy bittorrent user.

Then you got it after its golden age. ;)

At least you actually COULD play multiplayer games through it if you got it illegally. You can't do that with most games nowadays. Probably good for me - since singleplayer for most RTS games is totally trivial (the computer AI especially sucks on water maps)

LOL

wait - zomg - could i download starcraft off bittorrent and play it multiplayer?

(but is there just a dearth of strategies in the game that DON'T INVOLVE 1v1 rushing attacks?)

Yep. If you can get NFSUG2 off bit torrent, you can probably get Starcraft, too. ;)

But MULTIPLAYER. The CD checks prevent me from playing other BitTorrent games online

(though a look at the books at the university bookstore makes me realize how much I'd lose out of playing games - hence why I only play them rarely now - actually - in short punctuated intervals)

You can bypass the CD checks. ;)

For installation, yes. But not for online (where the companies often have a database of keys to check against).

buy a cdkey online for $<5 for starcraft. or you could go to walmart open up the starcraft box and copy the key code on your hand, but i wouldn't suggest doing the latter.

I already know of keygens (that's how you bypass the keys for installation) - it's just that the keygens don't produce keys that work for multiplayer (illegal key detected is often a message).

And the mere existence of this message makes me wonder why it isn't forwarded to the appropriate authorities - which can then take measures to sue the end-user. That could easily reduce software piracy due to the psychological effects of this
