Sorry if I was being rather harsh, but honestly it's quite annoying to see you always complaining/depressed about your freshman/sophomore years and how your dreams are over...because it isn't true.

you've lived almost 1/4 of your life. honestly, get over it and move on. I felt the same way with my previous life when I came onto this website, but I got over it in 2 hours and...moved onto better things, improving a bit by bit.

Go talk to your parents...if they're truly sensible/caring they won't yell at you or get mad at you for not getting into a college, what kind of parents are those?

Another reason I wanted to got to top school is.....It would be a big ego booster.

That's probably one of the reasons why you're depressed.

My mother wasn't as strict on me getting good grades just as long as I tried my best and graduated which I did. When I really started thinking about college it was a little too late but I manage to get into a college that I liked. Know I have a clean slate and I can start all over again.

No worries. If you do well in grade 11 and grade 12, you can always go to a very very good Canadian University, much less hassle, and much easier on your bank account...

Are non-academic electives excluded from GPA?
Guidance told me a class was honors.it wasn't, but I did realize it until 3/4 through they ear....Can I ask them to weight it as such because it was there error?
Weighted wise I could get close to a 3.6.(.3 for AP and Honors)

It depends on both your high school and the college you're applying to. I would ask your school about it and look into how the colleges you're interested in reconfigures GPA. I'm sort of blanking here, but what's a non-academic elective?

You can try, but unfortunately I don't see them giving in.

Idk about the OP, but I feel that my parents over-estimate my abilities to get into the top universities. Like, they don't pressure me to do anything, so everything I've done has been self-motivated. When I get mail from some of the good universities, my parents are like, "Wow! You should really apply! You'll probably get in!" I know I don't have the stats to get into those schools, and I don't want to disappoint them. :( It kind of sucks having clueless parents...but at least we have a good relationship...

I am in a similar situation with OP, I screwed up freshman and sophomore years. But my parents have always been strict on me.

I guess it was when I started getting straight As and a 217 on the PSAT last year was when they ramped up the standards.

Now I'm pursuing an AA degree by the time I graduate. I could have been Ivy material, but I still have time to make it up if I get into a good business school after college.

Hey, while we're all complaining about things we want....
I wish my school had told us that some colleges require SAT IIs.
I wish SOMEBODY had told me that freshman/soph grades DO matter a little bit.
I wish I wish I wish - - - -

I wish my school had told me I could take Latin on GA Virtual school.
I wish my school had told me I could take PE AND Health over the summer for free so I'd actually have room in my schedule to take classes I LIKE.

OMG-I thought I was the only Asian kid on this planet to have parents who couldn't care less if I got a C (YES, a C) in my classes as long as I really did apply myself and tried my best.

parents have degrees from 4 ivies + nyu among them...they NEVER push me...are they proud of me? yes. but they also realize that "beating/forcing" a child to do well doesn't equal inner motivation
