my councilor told me i wont meet the requirements for a csu until the end of my senior year because i still have to take another science and i have to go back and retake classes i got d in. this summer i will be retaking one semester of math and one semester of english then when school starts in august i will be retaking one semester of history online. he told me when i apply to colleges they will reject me because i wont meet the requirements and i will then have to contact them saying i will meet the requirements at the end of the year but i feel like colleges wont do that and wont want to wait around for students. im scared i wont get into a college. what can i do? has anyone experienced this before? can someone give me advice?
Many students won’t meet the requirements until they actually graduate. That’s why schools need to get a final transcript AFTER you graduate. Many kids are taking that 4th year of science, math, English as seniors.
You may have issues because you are redoing classes to get the grade needed. When you self report your courses and grades, you may have to explain.
Senior year course work is considered for fulfilling subject requirements and expectations, but admission offers will be conditional on completing it with high enough grades. Also, past D grades will be included in any GPA calculations and may therefore affect your admissibility.
the CSU schools will use the repeat grade in calulating your GPA. The UC system only allows repeats for grade D or lower but for CSU you can repeat any class.
When you apply to CSU you will enter the classes you have already taken and tell them what classes you plan senior year. As long as you have all the required classes done by the time senior year ends you satisfy that part of the admission requirements; of course they will check your final transcript.
Take a look at the admission policies of the CSU campuses you are considering. They differ somewhat between campuses. In particular look at whether they give preference to local candidates and how they use the eligibility index.

If you are retaking Math and English this summer, you will have the new grades for the CSU GPA calculation and as stated above by @mikemac, they will replace your deficient grades when filling out your CSU application along with your CSU GPA. If you are retaking the History course but will not have a replacement grade by the end of November 30th (CSU application deadline) then your deficient grade will need to be reported and calculated into your CSU GPA, but if you pass the course then you will have that a-g course requirement completed during Senior year.
Also, as stated in the above posts, most Seniors will not have all their a-g courses completed at application time, so you will be accepted based on completing these requirements. To maintain your provisional admission, you will need to pass all Senior courses with a C or higher and your final HS transcript will be the verification required by the CSU’s.
Not sure where your current CSU GPA stands and which CSU’s you are targeting but you should consider the non-impacted campuses such as Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, East Bay, Channel Islands and Stanisluas that will accept you with the minimum CSU GPA and a-g requirements completed.
