“still missing the point. if their output is exactly the same then no one cares.”

precisely. no one cares, except the teachers assigning grades based on homework. but people who can “get it” right away are still forced to do homework which doesn’t further their understanding of the material.

Someone still has to explain this to me…is homework really THAT bad? If you really are such a genius, then shouldn’t you laugh at the notion that you need to do busy work and just finish it in 5 minutes?

I would actually rather have the lazy genius designing my building than the kid who says “durrrr, I study every single night but I just can’t manage to get anything above a C in AP physics B. This class is hellllll. How does anyone do this?”

its called busy work because it keeps you busy regardless of how well you know the material. it still takes a certain amount of time to complete adequately even if you know it perfectly.

Funstuff. I don’t think that waste of gray matter you call a brain comprehends what i’m saying. The person who works their butt off won’t be failing AP physics. Hell, he’ll be on the same level as the genius. As i said, hard work will always trump raw intelligence.

But, i guess you guys are too “Lazy” and “Smart” to shift through the “busy work” that is my post.

This thread = full of people who are mad they didn’t get a 4.0 in high school and are jealous some hard worker got it instead. Also, people who try to make themselves feel better by putting down hard workers, hehehe…

*Awaits for the random CCer to say they’re smart, not jealous and have a 4.0 and are just defending their beliefs blah blah blah

As much as we’d all love to believe this idealist statement, IT’S NOT TRUE. Go search “Ap physics help” and you will literally find tons of threads about hardworking, above-average students who are/were struggling despite putting in the effort.

And you brought up athletics earlier…no amount of hard work and dedication will EVER make these girls Olympic hurdlers. Sorry.

Purplepotato + Funtstuff = Elitist scumbags who scoff at people who do work and end up better than them.

Yes, the world should be based off an intelligence hierarchy. People who aren’t as smart but work hard are just jealous and hopeless. The world depends on the lazy genius who doesn’t do his math homework. /sarcasm

i have a 3.75 unweighted. i think, for some classes, my homework shouldnt be required because i don’t need to do it to understand it. that’s all

Yes, you’re too good for that class. Don’t bother doing work, show the teacher that you’re better than everyone by not trying. He’ll get the message that you’re smarter than everyone else and back off. He’ll realize that you deserve special treatment. /sarcasm

As I’ve said, I have no objections to productive work; in fact, I enjoy doing productive work. What I mind is the work that school requires you to do, which is generally not productive in the least.

If you believe that you’ll be able to find a job in this economy that’ll correlate 100% (or even 65%) to your definition of worthwhile and interesting with a BA (or even an MA or a PhD)… good luck to you.

Not to mention I thought the main point of going to a traditional college is to learn. Otherwise one would just attend a trade school. But that’s besides the point, I’m sure.

Funstuff, I just realized that you’re not only lazy but, your an idiot as well. You missed the point again but, i’m done arguing, why don’t you go play some cod with the rest of your “lazy” friends while i go do something productive.

“Yes, you’re too good for that class. Don’t bother doing work, show the teacher that you’re better than everyone by not trying. He’ll get the message that you’re smarter than everyone else and back off. He’ll realize that you deserve special treatment. /sarcasm”

tests. if someone can ace tests, why do they need to turn in homework? it doesnt prove anything.

I’ll be going to graduate school. And the point is to learn, but the end result is getting a job.
