Hi @kapcan
If the current SAT math and reading are graded on the same scale as a couple years ago, I think averaging a 610 on both the math and reading might be slightly on the low side to be 100% “safe”, however it seems at though some other “traits” you have would improve your chances (1st gen, 7 AP’s). One of my good friends from high school got into UConn-Storrs for allied health (not Nursing, but perhaps similar in terms of applicants?), and had a 1650ish on his ‘old’ SAT. He too was a first generation, but was also from an under represented group (I don’t know how much that factors in the decision). I would definitely say that you have a good chance of getting in Storrs, but every year UConn gets more and more competitive that I don’t want to say definitely one way or another. I don’t know how familiar you are with the branch campuses, but even if you were placed at one of those, you would most likely be able to transfer to Storrs after 1-3 semesters (as soon as they don’t have enough classes for you to take at the branch, and based on the fact you have 7AP’s, you probably have finished a lot of gen-ed requirements.)
Let me know if you have any more questions, and best of luck!
@UConn2017 do you have any insider scoop through friends in admissions as to when acceptances come out? I know they say March 1st but was hoping for this weekend?? I know you can’t put their jobs in jeopardy but was just wondering if there is any gossip that you heard?? You have been such a big help!! Thank you again!!!
Hi @debbie2th !
Unfortunately I don’t have the scoop for this one
I know how anxious it can be, and I hope it comes out sooner than March 1st.
According to my facebook timeline from a few years ago, I was notified on Feb 25th that I was accepted. So that might be indicative of an early release? Sorry I don’t have anything more specific!
@UConn2017 your’e the best!!!
@debbie2th Not 100% positive, but everyone might be hearing back tomorrow. No guarantees, but it sounds like if everything goes according to plan we’ll see the decisions come out.
@UConn2017 Thank you so much. I have seen a few things change on Emma’s student center page. She has a financial aid link and a search tab for classes. I sure hope so. This waiting is killing me!! Thanks for thinking of me.
Hello,
I have a 3.2 GPA and a 1350 SAT what do you think my chances aren’t at getting into storrs. I have a good extra curricular sand I’m Hispanic. I’m very anxious waiting for admissions decisions
@UConn2017 Thank you so much for your help. They released decisions tonight!! My daughter was accepted to Storrs Biomedical Engineering Program!! You are such a great kid! Wish you all the best in your senior year and your bright future!!!
@debbie2th Congratulations! That’s great news!!!
Hi, I recently got accepted to UConn and the honors program (coincidentally as a Econ major as well!)
Still waiting to hear back from other schools, but UConn is one of my top choices.
I’ve heard some mixed reviews about the Honors Program, so I was wondering what your experience was like? Would you say there were tangible benefits? I also know there’s something about opportunities abroad-could you speak to that as well?
Thanks !
