To any current high school Senior or parent that applied to UCONN Storrs for Fall 2016 Freshman class, decisions should start coming in soon. Please share info here so that we can all stay in the loop on what’s happening in regards to decisions, and we can cheer everyone on, etc. Last year’s threads indicate that students started getting acceptances early Feb into mid-March. Please describe yourself as M/F, in-state or out of state, what major you applied for, and share GPA, test, and extra-curricular info if you are comfortable. I wish everyone the best of luck! My son is out of state and UCONN Storrs is his #1. We have not heard anything yet, but got the request for the FASFA yesterday (which they send to every applicant). Please update as you see fit. Thanks all.
My son has UConn as his second choice. He has already been accepted to his first choice, Ohio State. Was also accepted to Penn State, UMass Amherst (we are in state in MA) Providence, UNH, URI and UMaine. UConn was my favorite for schools we had toured.
@jakeybake Congrats on him being accepted to Ohio State as well the others. My son has been accepted to several others as well, and they have been pretty generous with Merit $, but his heart is set on UCONN. I totally get it, as it was by far my favorite in all the tours as well for him. Fingers crossed! I like the idea of him being exactly 2 hours from where we live in MA as well. What is your son’s connection to Ohio State?
He has a couple of older friends who go to OSU now but other than that no real connection except for the fact that it has everything he wants in a school. Huge campus, huge athletics, and a highly ranked Engineering school. In his eyes, the bigger the school the better! It’s interesting because 3 other kids (all female) in his tiny high school got into OSU as well and 2 of them may actually end up there, which would be great.
jakeybake- Do you have twitter account? I do not, but I’ve heard you can just put UCONN Acceptance into twitter and see if anyone has posted that they got in. Let me know if you hear/read of anything. Thanks!
I thought the decisions wouldn’t come out until March?
@Fiona1997 they don’t. The date is March 1 so it could be then or one or two days before. The people that have been accepted already are those that applied to the arts program with a portfolio, I’m pretty sure. They had an earlier deadline than us.
I am not a Senior in high school, but a transfer from a CC and was accepted 2 weeks ago online. I have yet to receive my letter though. I also was accepted to UMaine with $6,000 scholarship, and PSU with a $3,000 scholarship. I wonder if incoming freshman to UConn find out last?
Last year frehman started finding out last Friday in Feb, so I am thinking we should hear 2/25-ish. I heard it’s a bubble year in population, so there are more to process. Throw in a few snow days and it could be longer. Let’s stay in touch!
Waiting on Storrs as well with my DS. My DD is a sophomore and her class of '14 didn’t start hearing for majority of majors until March into April. Of course exceptions, Digital Design, Pre-Med/Vet, Pharm, Honors, etc. They are the only school left to hear from, he’s been accepted to UMass Amherst, Towson Univeristy, Plymouth St, and deferred early acceptance to Binghamton. We knew it would be the final school to hear from, UConn has over 35,000 apps for freshman to go through…sigh…
I know one student accepted today into the animation program.
I think from last year’s thread indications we can surmise that there will start to be a slow but steady stream between now and March 3rd. Last year it looks like several out of state students heard 2/28. We are OOS and keeping fingers crossed. 3.3 grade average at tough school, but 3.6 for this year so far, and went beyond several of the academic requirements. Had an ACT score low side of what UConn indicates in their stats but has great recommendations, internships, has worked for three years, started clubs at school, NHS, etc. He visited three times and made sure to let them know UConn is #1 choice and 100% committed to attending if accepted. Has other acceptances with nice merit $, but UConn is in the heart. Kept in touch with Admissions now and then to stay connected and show commitment w/o being a pain, so we shall see. I think if they look holistically, which they said they do, there is a decent chance. If it’s meant to be it will be. I wish everyone the very best of luck. Please keep posting whatever you hear out there!
I applied to 3 school during EA. I was deferred by two of the EA schools and accepted into one. UConn will be the first one I’ll hear back from. I wish the decisions will be out next week!
Fiona1997 Which school did you get into EA? My student got into Ithaca, UVM, Quinnipiac, Endicott and URI. Wish UCONN had EA!
@becautious I got into Bard College in NY!
Too bad New Yorkers can’t go to UConn for in-state. Wouldn’t it be great for NYers if they had an exchange program with SUNY. LOL! But I guess they would be overcome with a flood of applicants. It’s so close tho.
@Fiona1997 Congrats! Anyone see anything on Twitter yet? I don’t have it but if you put UCONN Acceptance into twitter you can see if anyone has posted an acceptance.
Logged on to twitter as above. Someone posted a uconn acceptance envelope yesterday. No idea what
program. Not much more on there…will keep watching!!!
@becautious @DonnaEv I think they are in the art program. Where do you guys live? I live in Western Mass. which is only one hour away from UConn.
My daughter got her acceptance yesterday into the UCONN School of Fine Arts, she had to apply to a specific major (Digital Media). Maybe they are doing those first?
