anyone who has taken this class--how hard is this class? is it time consuming?
since it's an upper div class would it be a bad idea for a freshman to take this coming spring?
also the waitlist is in its 60s... is it even possible for me to get in?

If you’re a freshman, then yes it is a bad idea for you to take this class. Not necessarily because it’s hard or time consuming, but because it’s an upper division class with a limited number of seats in a department that is scrambling because of an influx of students. You will have many more opportunities to take this class, so why take it now? There are many juniors and seniors who are trying to get into this class, and maybe NEED to get into it for whatever reason. Besides, if you are a bio major, I think you will get much more out of the class if you take it later.

And your chances of getting in while being 60 down the wait list are slim to none.

ditto to what jb just said

your discussion waitlist is the waitlist that matters. If you have a good position on that list, you will have a shot.

how necessary is it to buy the book? he pretty much teaches straight from the lecture slides, which he says the exams are based off of

Don’t buy the book! I had him for anatomy and I did that and I definitely wasted like $100. His exams only come from the lectures.

Yeah I’m wondering if I should shell out the money to buy the book. I had him for anatomy too, but what I’m worried about is if discussion sections will quiz from stuff out of the book (of which his slides are kinda word for word haha)
