@GeoStudent8 If your school doesn’t offer IB/AP classes, don’t worry.

If your school does offer them, you should be able to look up info about them online. I don’t know much about IB so I won’t say anything IB-specific. For APs, high scores (E.g. 4 or 5) can often grant you credit for introductory college classes.

The only math APs are Statistics and Calculus AB/BC so keep that in mind.

Also, from your other post, it seems like you’re in 8th grade. It’s not common for HS freshmen to take APs (though some do), and many only take them in 11th or 12th grade. My first AP classes were Calculus AB and English Language in 10th grade. So you shouldn’t worry.

If you are offered the chance to take some easier APs as a freshman, take them! You will be thankful later on if you feel like you can handle it. Personally, taking AP US History as a freshman, I was able to invest more time and effort into my single AP class than I would if I had taken it when I was older, presumably with 2-4 other AP classes. You also will learn to manage a high school workload more easily. However, even the most elite colleges don’t care if you took APs starting in 9th grade or not. You won’t be at a disadvantage in terms of college admissions if you choose not to take any APs or aren’t offered them early on.
