For those who have taken IB or AP biology in the past (not just started), how was it? Did you like the class? Was it hard? Did you learn a lot? (Also, please state whether you took IB biology, or AP biology).

I did a first month IB biology because our AP chem teacher wanted us to, but I have never done AP biology before.

My experience (I only did like two chapters of IB biology) was that the course forces you to do your work everyday. The labs weren’t that hard if you had pay attention

According to me, basically AP will get you more credits with lesser work; that is, you can keep self-studying APs for a few months and in the end score high, whereas in IB, it is a lot of work (lab reports, G4, etc) AND the studying part to score high.

I’m doing IB certificate (but self studied 5 APs). Had to drop the Diploma in order to make time for APs. I also expected some senioritis to come in, so i just self-studied 5 APs at the end of my junior year. I am not a Bio student. I dropped it after grade 10.

Are you doing Diploma or Certificate? Which class are you in?

Yeah Diploma students require more I think, the TOK is more enforced than it is in the Cert

Just certificate. I’m not concerned with the whole diploma.

Lemone, there is NO TOK enforced if you are in the Certificate program.

BindersOpen, depending upon the number of subjects you are doing in the IB, you can take APs too. I wouldn’t recommend doing APs in your senior year (when you take your IB exams too). Do the APs in your junior year (I hope you are a junior).

Is your school an all IB school?
