I really want to apply to the university of Chicago to study geography but ive been predicted about a 36 . is there any hope ?

36 in what?

I think he meant 36/45 …with 45 being the highest IB score

I had a 36 and got in. I don’t think they really care about IB scores all that much, especially because you don’t even know them when you’re applying.

Depends on your school. I’ve had friends with 43/45 and top leadership-filled CVs get rejected (my school average is 40.something). So, just focus on what you can change now and hopefully you’re one of the top in your school! Good luck.

thanks a lot guys , im going for it now

UChicago has a kind of unique holistic application process - they look at everything about a prospective student, not just your IB scores (I did IB), SATs or grades. Your essays (check out the wacky UChicago prompts), teacher recommendations and extra-curriculars are just as, if not more, important.
Good luck!

S’s IB school didn’t even give predicted grades so they obviously weren’t considered in his application. If I were you, I wouldnt send them. I think UChicago likes IB because it is a rigorous program, but the official grades dont come in until long after admissions decisions have been made. But Im just a parent, you might want to ask Grace about this on the other thread.

Your predicted score won’t make a difference in admission.

Although, try to get those 6-7 on your HL’s because getting credit at Chicago is very difficult and it’s super annoying to have to do those core requirements, and satisfying some of them with IB Credits will help a lot.

2 things:

(1) They won’t ask for predicted scores, nor will they ask for final scores.
(2) Don’t expect to get any credit, particularly if you’re taking Physics, Math or Econ HL. I don’t even know if a 7 in Bio lets you into the AP5 track. However, you can get physci & core bio credit with HLs reasonably, I think. You can also satisfy the language requirement with a 5.

im finding it really difficult writing the u chicago supplement, what do the admission officers expect, something intellectual or something personal? and how long seeing as there is no word limit.
also what other schools would be good for a geography B.a
