<p>I have average stats (2250 SAT, 800 SAT IIs) for an Asian international and I have pretty good ECs with a lot of leadership (particularly in the major I am interested in - Economics). I am a full IB candidate and these are probably my predicted grades:</p>
<p>Maths HL: 5 or 6
Physics HL: 7
Economics HL: 7
English A1 SL: 5 to 7 (most probably 6)
Philosophy SL: 6 or 7
Spanish Ab Initio: 7</p>
<p>Essentially my predicted grade may be between 37 and 41 out of 42 (I would anticipate 39 or 40). </p>
<p>How would my worst case and best case scenario look at UChicago - especially EA?</p>
<p>My SAT scores are hypothetical. I have taken many practice tests and received scores between 2230 and 2320. As for the SAT II, I have got 800 in all practice tests.</p>

<p>2250 SAT is really good even for uchig, i know ppl who got in with high 2100s - low 2200s, you dont need SAT IIs for uchicago but if theyre 800 id send it, your ib score is healthy - i think thats around the average or maybe even a tad higher than the average</p>
<p>If you have decent GPA, maybe like 3.7 in my school id recommend EA, youd prolly get in if your essays and recs are good - uchig really likes those</p>
<p>I’m applying EA. My current SAT score comes out to 1490/1600 though I am trying to push it to about 1540 or so. I think an IB predicted of 36 our of 42 is equivalent to 4.0 UW GPA, so I know that as long as your score is higher than 36, the only thing that changes is your weighted GPA. I think with 37 it is around 4.15 weighted or something, and with a 41 it’s around 4.8 or so. I guess a 39 or 40 would put me around 4.6 or something then.</p>
<p>Your IB scores are fine. I got 41 predicted. Try not to get any 5’s for predicted. You’re fine. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to apply for EA if you are an international student applying for financial aid. I am assuming that you aren’t. You have an amazing shot!</p>

<p>@OP: just suggesting here - DO apply to other schools, because you never know how things will turn out when it comes to college admissions…
As an international I applied from the South Hemisphere, where we take the IB exams in November. So my actual IB results were out when I applied to UChicago (44; my predicted was 43) but I personally know another international with scores not too far off but did not get in (this person did not require fin. aid either). You have pretty good chances, but it doesn’t hurt to look into a few other places too, just to be safe :)</p>

<p>Phew… haha… that means I still have somewhat of a shot at reaching your score in terms of M+CR. My testing practices are weird, I will either do well in CR (get a 740 or so) or do well in Writing (can get 800 if I get the essay), but not both. Maybe, I’ll get lucky and get a 800 in writing and a 740 in CR then thats around 2340… but I’ll be honest, if I even get 720CR, 800M, 750W I am happy.</p>
<p>Don’t worry too much about the SATs; your scores are already in the ballpark so it’s not worth a retake IMO. </p>
<p>(Interestingly, I did many practice tests for the SATs but the only times I got 800s in CR/W were in my two real tests. Also, the multiple choice part of W weighs quite a lot - I actually got a 9 for my essay but multiple choice more than made up for it) :)</p>
<p>Remember most US students will not have actual IB scores until long after you’ve been accepted and deposited. </p>
<p>My younger S’s school doesn’t send predicted IB scores to schools unless specifically asked. His IB program has one of the highest average scores in the US – a 35 – but again, IB scores are not used as an admissions criterion in the US the way they are on other countries. He did report his two SLs from junior year (a 4 and a 5) – and got in Early Action. He had stronger AP scores in the same subjects. </p>
<p>S2 had a 1500/2290 SAT (740CR, 760 M, 790/12 essay) and 770/770/730 on Math Level II, USH and Eng Lit, full IB diploma plus 11 APs.</p>
<p>Multiple choice on WR is 70% of the score. An 80 MC/9 essay will get you an 800, 80 MC/8 essay will not. A 74 MC/12 essay will not get you an 800, either.</p>
<p>Don’t panic. 2250+ is very competitive at any top school. Chicago likes that you take IB, not necessarily what your scores are. These are only part of the picture.</p>
