IB Certificate

Why does everyone seem to hate on the certificate program? Is it just me or do people make it seem like those who pursue the IB Certificate will never get accepted to university? Individual IB courses are basically like AP courses.. so why is there so much hate for it?

I'm also pretty sure that schools award the regular diploma to certificate kids, so they obviously graduate with a diploma..

Well, no, kids who get the IB certificates don’t graduate with the IB diploma otherwise there would be no need for a certificate
IB certificates will get you college credit like if you scored a 7 on IB HL biology but universities tend to look down on kids who don’t go for the full diploma. This is mainly because college admissions see IB as an all or nothing thing and a student who takes a few IB courses here and there will be seen as 1.) not taking the most rigorous course load and 2.) not wanting the challenge of the entire diploma.
You’ll probably still get into college but its just another reason for an elite college to not admit you.
