My high school offers a IB diploma but I like my freedom to pick the what ever AP courses I like without having to specifically pick a certain amount of a certain catogory.
I would also like to take a third language but that isn't possible with taking the IB route at my school. I like debate which would be hard to take again at my school. I would have to sign up for visual arts for 2 years which i am not a fan of. And I have to take 3 required Social studies class (year course each) at my school, then plus two years of IB social studies (i am not even going to major in something that has anything to do with SS). Im am kind of sticking to the negatives but i dont want to write you guys a memoir so ill stop there. I am also playing to try pre-med after high school. So that is the info now here are the questions:

IB Diploma vs 3 languages how do colleges see this?
Visual arts IB matter?
Does Debate matter?
Does IB matter for future pre-meds?
In general is it really worth it?

If you are planning on studying languages in college it may help you later in life, but schools will certainly view it as a positive but not a deciding factor it does place you above others. The ib diploma in general is a very little factor in it, schools recognizes it however its mainly the Ib Hl classes you take that significantly helps your chances. To be perfectly honest ib visual arts Sl is not very significant for colleges in the US, Sl classes in general are not really considered by colleges, and not sure about abroad because the Ib is more widely recognized in Europe and etc. If you like Debate and its something you are considering for your future or even if you’re passionate about it seek it outside of school because I know it would suck to have to take an elective you aren’t interested in even if it is Ib but ultimately if you want to deal with the visual arts you can but just know it doesn’t really help your chances of getting into college. Good grades in Ib HL classes certainly do help your chances of getting into colleges but it definitely is not necessary Ap’s are fine. In general if you want to prepare yourself for college the most and you think you can handle difficult classes if you truly dedicate yourself to the classes I suggest you do because learning how to study in high school is EXTREMELY beneficial for college, and I am not sure about your school but at my school my ib physics teacher would spend periods talking about methods studying and how to be more effective with your time. Studying and time management is the key to success for your future, its better to learn it now rather then when you are actually paying for your education.
