OP dd had the same exact schedule as you have. She picked up her diploma at school last Friday at am awards program. It wasas a good feeling to be done and over. She had a great time meeting all her friends after their first semester of college was behind them. DD got a merit scholarship for having an IB diploma. Remember this as you all go through the programme. Colleges love IB and they love it when you get the diploma. You can walk away with an years worth of college credit. Means a whole lot for those with limit college budgets.

Just an FYI. Not all high schools are doing great with the % of kids that get the diploma. My dd’s high school only had a 33% pass rate. DD high school had an easy entrance to the program so I believe there were some kids that should not have been in it but they want to give everyone a chance. Work smart people and you will get that paper too.

I’m taking ITGS SL, and it’s pretty much just how technology affects society. You learn about basic computer hardware/software, and then discuss technology as it affects parts of society. Pretty easy.

Keep up the good work everyone! Anyone started IAs? I’m working on Math and ITGS right now.

Hi Everyone,
My D is a Freshman and changed schools for the IB program. They are working on schedules for next year and she’s having a little meltdown because I think she feels like she has no choices in classes and that everything is laid out for her over the next three years. She also is not a big fan of her current math teacher, and this teacher is the one who teaches IB Math. I know this curriculum would be good for her but she just did badly in a math quiz and I think her confidence is shaken.
I do know this is her choice to make but do you guys have any words of wisdom or perspectives that could calm her down? One issue is that she wants to be in student government and at her school, one needs to take a certain class to be in student government and she feels that there’s no room in her schedule to do what she wants because of all her IB prereqs.
I would hate for her to lose her nerve now then not have the option a year from now.

She could just be a certificate student rather than a full diploma candidate if her schedule as the latter does not allow for her passions to thrive. I personally would go the AP route if there are at least 12 AP classes offered at your D’s school, but that probably defeats the purpose of transferring. I know several friends in the full diploma program in ASB and they seem to be doing fine, but school systems differ so I would have your D talk to her school’s IB coordinator to see if she can work out a schedule that she can be satisfied with.
