I am currently an IB (diploma) junior and I saw that for most colleges in California (I live in Florida but I want to go to college in California-yes I am aware that out-of-state tuition is high) IB and AP are weighted the same. So I’m wondering if I can just switch out of IB and go to my home school (I currently go to a charter school) and take AP classes there. Do colleges really care if you take IB (diploma) over AP classes (I would be switching into mostly AP classes)? I really don’t want to do my EE and I feel like if colleges look at IB and AP the same theres not point in stressing myself out by staying in the diploma program. My GPA (for now) is 3.7 (my HPA is a 4.7). What do you advise me to do?

UCs treat IB and AP classes equally as weighted classes that get bonus points toward the weighted UC GPA.
thank you! I think I will be switching out of IB then because the program is getting too stressful with CAS and EE, stuff that AP students don’t have to worry about…
