IB Peoples

Hello all. I'm a English A1 HL person. I have done 2 world lits. In 24 hours. Just handed in 1 minute before the deadline at 4:10 sharp.

What are your books and topics?

Mine's The Bald Soprano, and Waiting For Godot. How absurd. =D

1) Crime and Punishment and Metamorphosis

2) House of the Spirits

The irony is. I’m not an English. I’m a Chinese. How absurd.

Aggh my A1 eng HL class is sooo meh. We don’t have a very good teacher. And a practise exam on Monday. Lol not feeling too good about english now, as you can tell. The texts we’re doing for World lit are Woman at Point Zero, The lost honour of katharina blum and chronicle of a death foretold. I thought woman was the best out of the three. Btw Mr. P there are loads of Chinese/Asian kids in my class but I live in HK so obviously.

How curious that is, what a coincidence! I too, sir, have a load of Chinese/Asian kids in my class and I live in HK too.

^ Putturani is most definitely not a ‘sir’.

^^ “don’t have a very good teacher” is an understatement. She’s AWFUL. And has no idea what she’s on about.

^ You have not read the Bald Soprano have you Joyce?

^LMAO I was understating to be nice. I’m so thankful when she spends the time going on about exams and stuff because that usually means I can tune it out. So many HKers in this forum.

If I remember correctly, Joyce is from College Confidential School, that means you are also from College Cofidential School. What a coincidence, since I just went to College Confidential School last week to chess competition. I was reminded of the tragic death of a young girl, who I only just knew to be from your school.

Do any of the IB english books have happy endings?

I’m sorry.

NP, just my parents have been known to stalk me on the internet before. It was scary when my dad dug up my Fb profile (under a false name) and friended me. Hahaha but yes, back on topic, most of the books are just depressing.

Why do I feel so normal when I hear these things that do not happen to me, when in fact I am not normal. D=

When I stepped in, the curtains are black… I thought it was a joke or something to be honest, but then I felt so wrong.qewr Forgive me.

^ I didnt understand, what?

Oh about the tragedy? Yeah, it was a really sad start to the term. I knew her (vaguely) since primary school.

Back to your question, Nicky- no, I have not read The Bald Soprano. Is it one of those absurdist things?

@MrPropapanda

Haha! That’s so weird, I just saw that same story on the My Life is IB website  Obviously, you probably posted it but that just seems weird/awesome that I know who posted it! But hey! high five for being a fellow MLIIBer  You’ve got the procrastination thing down!

1) Crime and Punishment and The Outsider (or the Stranger)
2) A Doll’s House

The Outsider was by far the most depressing book I’ve read in a while. Oh absurdism.

How is “Heart of Darkness”? I’ve heard it’s a pretty heavy book.

heart of darkness is okay. very dense, but bearable. I, personally, liked the book.
