Did ucsd receive any of you guys' IB scores yet?

UCSD NEVER received my IB scores even though I sent them twice. It’s been two years. Don’t count on it.

UCSD told me they got mine but they never posted them to tritonlink because I didn’t have the 30 points on my diploma to get the 30 units.

uhh… mine got received last year so dunno what you’re talking about.

though, this is slightly off-topic, ucsd is BULL SHIZ with ib scores.

if you get 30 ib points, you are supposed to get 30 unassigned credits. this doesn’t really do much besides giving you a better registration time, but better registration time is VERY HELPFUL.

well… i got 35 points from ib and at first i got my 30 credits no problem. then in spring quarter, almost 9 months after, they decide to take away 24 of my ib credits, leaving me with only 6. their reason? my ib and ap scores overlapped, so they had to take away 8 credits for every test that overlapped. took bio ap and bio hl, calc bc ap and math hl, spanish ap and spanish sl. therefore, they decided to take away 24 credits. why is this bull ****? cuz they aren’t supposed to do this. i have asked friends who were in ib from my school, in my grade and those several years older than me, and none of them had this problem except ME. none of my classmates got their credits taken away and they took the exact same tests as me from ucsd. no one from ucla, berkeley, or usc got their credits taken away like me.

**** UCSD.

i argued with the counselors for a long time to no avail. i had help from my high school ib coordinator who also helped argue to get my credits back. these stupid *s at ucsd said “NO NO NO NO SORRY YOU GET 24 CREDITS TAKEN AWAY ASS”.

what’s also funny is that they don’t give credits for sl tests, YET THEY DECIDE TO TAKE AWAY CREDITS FOR SL TESTS THAT OVERLAP WITH AP TESTS? even if they follow their own “policy” of removing credits of overlapping tests, they shoulda only taken away 16 credits for my math hl and bio hl, not spanish sl cuz that is an sl test and i shouldn’t be getting credit for that anyways. but these *s at ucsd didn’t want to acknolwedge their mistake and were on their high horse saying NOPE 24 CREDITS REOMVED * YOU. pompous bastards.

So if we get under 30 ib points, we only get credit for exams we got 5s and above?

Yeah, only on 5s or above if they’re HL tests. And it means nothing if you overlap it w/ AP tests. So you can’t get double credit.

if you get 30+ points, you are supposed to get 30 unassigned credits, it doesn’t matter if your tests overlap with ap tests.

going by your theory, if i had decided to take english ap (which would overlap with english hl, which i took), i would have gotten -2 credits (yes, negative credits) cuz that would have made it 4 overlapping tests, which is 32 credits. which makes no sense.

and it would make no sense to give me 0 credits too.

Er, I was referring to if you get under 30 points.

What I meant is that you can’t get more than 8 units of credit for a certain subject. For example, I got a 6 on English HL and a 5 on AP Lit but I only get a total credit of 8 units for both.

@happyhappy - I bet that’s what happened with my scores too, which is why they never appeared on my transcript. Sighhhhhh. They can’t make it easy.

xpenguin: you do realize that at other colleges (like ucla, usc, and berkeley), if you get more than 30 points for ib, they will give you 30 unassigned credits ALONG with credits for ap? so if you got 30 points, and you took math hl and calc bc ap, they will give you 8 credits for calc bc, but they won’t deduct anything from your 30 unassigned credits.

happyhappy: Yeah. I do realize it. But that’s just not how the system works in UCSD which is ********. But again, I’m also explaining that if you get UNDER 30 points, your HL and APs won’t both give you credit.

yeah, not trying to give you a hard time, im just ranting cuz im still ****ed about having my credits taken away when none of my friends got theirs taken away (from ucsd and other colleges).

its been 2 months since it happened but i still get ****ed when i think about it.
