Im going to be an upcoming Junior and I need help figuring out what HL & SL subjects to take. I want to be a Cardiologist. Here are the courses my school offers.
HL/SL English
HL/SL Math
HL/SL Biology
HL/SL Physics
HL/SL Chemistry
HL/SL History (Americas)
HL/SL Theatre
HL/SL Latin (language that I take)
HL/SL Art
HL/SL Environmental Systems & Societies
Please Help! I need 3 HL & 3 SL Subjects. I was thinking of taking HL Latin, HL English, and HL Biology, SL Chemistry, SL Math, SL History.

High school classes are totally irrelevant for: a) medical specialty and b) medical school admission.

Admission to medical school is dependent upon your college performance and MCAT scores; admission to a specialty is dependent upon your medical school performace and USMLE scores.

Take classes you like the best and think you will best in.

HL English
HL Math
HL Biology
SL Chemistry
SL Latin
SL History (Americas)

If you aren’t good at math then take HL HOA. I say this for the following reasons:
- Highschool classes don’t matter
- HL Chem and HL Bio is killer hard
- Getting HL English (which is easy) out of the way will get you a good deal of college credit
- HOA has a good deal of work but it is another great way to get credits.
- HL Math is baller hard, but if you did well in BC calc, then you’ll do well
- Your goal should be to eliminate as many GenEd classes as possible, by doing so you allow yourself more freedom to take classes related to your major.
- You WILL repeat Bio in college, it is part of your major and it would be a bad idea to skip it. By taking HL Bio now you will do well in freshman Bio, which is usually what is know as a weed-out class.
- Even if you don’t take the HL Latin exam, you can usually test out of languages at the college, meaning it would be redundant for picking up credits.

Hope that’s helpful.

It was really helpful! Thank you so much!

Lot of people in my school took HL Chem and HL bio. Take SL math it is much easier
