IB v. AP

I hate when there are threads when students ask whether they should do ap or ib and then people rely saying one is so much more better or rigorous or whatever. In my opinion, the only way you should decide between ap and ib is within the context of your own school. If your high school is predominately IB, take IB because its probably the most rigorous. If your high school is predominately AP, take Ap because it's probably the most rigorous. Some schools think AP is a joke while other schools think Ib is a joke.
My school is one of the schools where we have a very strong AP AND IB program. If you talk the your guidance counselor they may say they are equally as rigorous. 3/4 hardest classes at my school is AP. There is a fairly equal mix between IB and AP students that are in the top 10%. Many AP students think Ib is stupid because their classes are easier and vice versa. However, it is easier for Ib people to get A's because Ib grades on a point system rather than a percentage system. There are many factors that come to play between Ib and AP at MY school that may not relate to your schools. So my advice is look at IB and AP in the context of your own school rather than what everyone on here says!

Ps: I'm an AP and IB students that interact with both on a daily basis!

What is your question? This is the prep school forum where APs are not the focus and IB programs are not common. I would agree that any college-bound student at any school anywhere should avail him/herself of the most rigorous courses of interest but, at most of the schools discussed here, students are not choosing between AP and IB.
