How tough is it to go into IB without doing pre-IB in grade 10?
My biggest concern is not taking french last year so going into an all-french speaking environment will be tough. I took it in junior high(grade 9) but it was simple stuff. Chem will also be tough to catch up on but not impossible

Well, its not that it will be tougher. Its that you won't be as used to having projects and stuff due as the pre-IB kids are. Other than that, it is not big deal. it is going to be very tough for everyone, whether or not they took preIB. well, wait... english might be hard since its a higher standard of writing, but other than that, you're level. And of course, if you don't know french and your school speaks in french... well then that's a hurdle...

well English wont be a problem because i was recommended to IB because of my higher writing skills.
French is the only language my IB program offers. I know the basics but i can't have a conversation or read a french book or w/e

what kind of school doesnt offer spanish...........

or a school with 7 teachers and none of them are spanish teachers...

I'm in Canada so french is the language they offer (the IB program is only 2 years old)

Not that hard. I mean, I never took "pre-IB" classes, but then again, I took all honors classes. I am assuming the only differences are:
-More Projects in IB
-Harder and More Homework in IB
-Generally, Stricker Teachers in IB
-And, More Rigorous Curriculum

If you can handle that, then I see no problem. However, what were you doing 10 grade instead of the pre-IB courses?

at our school, we don't even have pre-ib and everyone does fine. :)

I was just doing normal high school course (we don't have honors or AP here, it's either normal or IB, and IB is pretty new as well)

I say go IB. Rigor of classes is almost as important as GPA.

yeah I will^^ my friend says it shouldn't be too hard to catch up with extra help and/or tutoring(he's in an all-IB expensive grammar school)

You have a smart friend. Good luck this year!
