this may be true, but there will always be that voice in the back of my head :)

Ah, the voices. I believe they once had a word for that, I forget the name now.

Who cares?

Almost everyone that has become successful has benefited some breaks. He was born into a rich family, was born in a district with great schools, had teachers that liked him, could afford expensive SAT classes, didn't face racial profiling, had the connections to not get arrested when doing questionable activities, had his resume read on a day when the reader was in a good mood, started his business at the right time in the right location, etc.

When you see a successful white man, do any of these things pop into your head?

"Average GPA: 3.20
Average SAT: 1082"

OMG!!!

typical cc reaction, lol.

hehe according to howard's application they dont take race into account... i wonder what the ibanks would do if a white Howard student came up to them :D

"hehe according to howard's application they dont take race into account... i wonder what the ibanks would do if a white Howard student came up to them "

the ibank would say: "uh, sir.........are you SURE you are from Howard????!!!! not Harvard?"

the skills required/desired in business offices...such a mystery to me.

and about successful black people. when i look at kwame from the first apprentice, i think, "thats an intelligent man. good for him, shoulda won."

although hes probably making more money now than anybody from the first apprentice.

Yeah I loved Kwame. On shows like that I think its better to come in second place. You get just as famous as the winner and everyone knows that your competent. I'm sure he has a real important job right now with some great company. The news talked about how the Apprentice winners don't have as important jobs as Trump promised. Basically they don't do much and just make speeches to prospective clients based on their Apprentice fame.

the job trump promised was pathetic. even their salary sucked. 250k for one yr. wow whata learning experience.

A lot of people mention Howard here, and it looks like Lazard recruits there. Does that mean at least one person at Howard is guaranteed to get a job/summer internship? Do they really recruit there? What's the point of saying they recruit there if they're in practice never going to?

also, is Morehouse College a good school? Does it have good econ/biz programs?

How can blacks benefit from AA at a historically black college? That is insane. People of any race can apply to Howard or any other college that they want to. I guess that's how little some people know about black colleges. And Howard's business school is great-that's why we all get internships and have corporate meetings with a CEO at least once a month. That's why we will be in Japan in four weeks. And the SAT/GPA stats that you get from the website are an average for the entire university, not the school of business, which is a lot more competitive.

so are you telling me race has very little to nothing to do with it? that howards business school is very good but the rankings just dont acknowledge it or something?

I don't know if Howard's business school is great or that's the company's motive towards recruiting there. I honestly thing they just show up because its sort of like walmart, one stop shopping to satisfy some diversity needs

umm, quick question..if the ibanks do NOT recruit at your university, but you still go to a decent university, what is the situation what should you do? I got to University of Rochester, and its a well ranked school, and a lot of the other schools of the same tier /rank /prestige get CRAPLOADS of recruiters (uillinois, BC, chicago , washu etc) but Rochester is a little less known, so whats the situation?

Networking is key if you don't attend a target school. You can still arrange to have an interview at a target school's career fair. Contact your school's career services and talk to professors who may have business contacts.

yay so all hope is not lost ?
