OMG, I plan to take US History and Chem in the next SAT administration (in Jan) but I miss it (the test center where I live is unavailable). I have only taken Writing, IC and IIC for SAT II. Can I still apply to Harvard with those scores? This question sound stupid but I really don’t know if IC + IIC = 2 subject tests or only one? Any input is highly appreciated.

I gave IIc and I c, they were considered 2 diff tests by the admission committee...applied to harvard EA

by the way ritz got in harvard ea. =)

really? OMG... Thank you so much. I thought I was totally screwed :) I think it won't look as good on my app as Writing, IIC and Chem or Physics, but I'm so relieved the 2 Maths count as two. Btw, mind if I ask your Ic, IIc scores, ritz?

hey ritz, i really hope you don't mind my being such a nosy person...i simply adore you =)
just.a.thought - ritz had a 760 IC and 740 IIC.

so cool that you've got in EA, ritz! And thanks, alyssa. But now that I think more about it, I think ritz's situation is quite diff from mine. He applied early so they may assume that he didn't have enough time to take another test. But me, I've got time and all, oh man... missing the test just because the local center is unavailable is really stupid!

Why don't you take it at a different center?

i think you only missed the registration deadline, didn't you? you could try as a stand-by candidate. most of my friends do that. why? in october, the results are only out by towards the end, which is past the nov reg deadline. they didn't register earlier because they wanted to see how they did they do first. and so far i've never heard of a test center being unable to accept a standby candidate.

It's two tests.. but it doesn't show much diversity in your learning. It's like taking two histories.

i agree with davidrune. If you can, take another. Taking the two maths doesn't look as impressive, though it will still count as two.

There's no other center near where I live, binarystar. And I just called the center this morning to ask for a standby but I won't know until Jan 12 (10 days before the test) if they have extra test books or not.

Just.a.thought, Actually, I gave 2c and 1c coz my subjects in school don't match with the sat 2 subjects.
As far as I know, sat 2 is used primarily for placement ( but I could be wrong), you will not be rejected outright just because you have taken 2c and 1c. Sure, if it is possible try to take another subject just to demonstrate the fact that you are versatile but don't obsess over this issue if you can't.
All the best for everything.
And alyssa, i don't think that you are nosy :)

and ritz is not a male name...lol :)

thanks ritz. And sorry for getting the name wrong :)
