part of the editorial staff of our high school magazine
I have recently been acclaimed as one of the students who has won the greatest number of awards in our school( in an article )
coordinated a research activity in our high school ( it consisted of applying questionnaies, collecting and interpreting data, publishing it + I was the coordinator of the entire group who did this)
my activity as a volunteer implied some sort of research activity ( went to dif. schools, applied questionnaires, collected the data + direct work with the children at a daily center
National Children's Forum ( participated about 5 times)
great recs.
intended major: sociology
can I please get an honest opinion?
oh, also had an interview - went very well
the interviewer said it was definitely interesting as I was the first person he had interviewed who was not into pure sciences

HYP-same chances as anyone else. Although it's a bit more of a reach for you
I'm not familiar with Grinnell
Brandeis-low reach to high match
Williams-high reach
Wellesley-not super sure, but i'd say high match
Colgate-match

You should never add up subject tests. That's not how adcomms look at it, and it there's a big difference between (say) 3 700's and 2 800's plus a 500.

HYP- High reach, especially for international
Grinnell-match
Brandeis-high match
Williams-reach
Wellesley-low reach
Colgate-match

I think your relatively low SAT scores my hurt you, but you have great grades (it's interesting that it's out of 10 ;D) and ECs. it's really impressive how you participated in so many olympiads. I think you have a fairly good shot at all of your schools, but remember that hundreds and thousands of them out there have similarly great ECs as you do but have a higher SAT score. so I hope your essays are good enough to compromise.

thank you, Vividi :) ( 1.00 -10.00 - the Romanian grading system). most of the Romanians applying to HYP are math, physics, chemistry olympians... so I hope my strong commitment to sociology will make my application stand out :D .one of my essays was about why I like train stations ( a personal and sociological perspective on train stations - isn't that weird? :p - I really like train stations :D) and the other one was on how my mom influenced me ( how she was born in the countryside and succeeded to to to high school and college in a big town... stuff like that)

While your ECs and grades are pretty impressive, those scores are fairly low for schools of that caliber to begin with, and with the addition of international status, you are put into an even more competitive pool. That hurts your chances a bit.

HYP- High reach
Grinnell- Match-high match
Brandeis- High match
Williams- Reach-High reach
Wellesley- High match
Colgate- High match
