I'm new to this but, I need help looking for safety or match schools. What I really am aiming for in the end is to get into a good medical school. I really don't know which undergraduate schools would be good with that, but so far I've got:

Reach!!!:
Johns Hopkins University
Reach:
University of Michigan

and University of Florida, Florida State University as safety/match.

but I really want to go north.

My stats are:

School: Very competitive magnetschool (public)
Curriculum: Very difficult (16 college credits from dual enrollment and 9APs)
Class rank: 102/319...i know...it crushed me...
GPA: 3.35 UW/ 3.98 W
SAT: 2070 (but retaking in Oct)
SAT 2s: Taking Literature, Biology, Math II in December
ECs: okay, but excuse is taking care of disabled sister and younger brother
with my dad working out of town and my mother with a heavy work
schedule...and school is over an hour away...can't drive because i'm not
16 yet
Community Service: 121 hours...plus more later...
Extras: National Merit Semi Finalist, National Honors society, AP scholar with
honors, Skipped 2 grades

Right now Johns Hopkins and Mich may be a bit of a stretch. While your SAT score isn't fantastic, its not bad either. However, your GPA is low even for hard courseload. Try to imporve that class rank and you never know what happens. As for the other schools you mentioned, they are probably matches and safeties. i would call U of Florida a mid to high match. Remember, no matter where you go for undergrad, strong results will always shine through and you will have a significant chance in attending a good med school. Its hard, but possible.

I agree with mini. Also remember that med schools look at MCAT's and GPA;if you do well at U of FLa. I'm guessing the GPA helps you just as much (and may be easier to obtain) than if you get into a reach school.

those really thoughtful ideas...its something to think about...

thanks...now that I think about it, that would be a more reasonable plan. The only reasoning I had for trying for a top undergrad is because i know how hard it is to get into medical school.

Is it really as hard as they make it out to be?
