Hi all, I'm a 20 year old CC student (Foothill College) and I'm about to enter my 3rd year there. I've been pretty ambivalent about my major this whole time, and as a result I've been taking classes on and off throughout these past 2 years, with my grades being pretty average. I know that the thing I've dreamed of doing more than anything else is the (very improbable) opportunity to make music for a living. I'm not blind enough to ignore the very small likelihood of that happening, but unfortunately it's taken this long for me to take that possibility into account.

Besides that my only other passion is the medium of filmmaking, which is why I've been thinking that it would be a good idea for me to attend a film school- this was actually my ambition early on in HS, but I've strayed pretty far from that path. Ideally I'd love to make movies, but even studying film history and film criticism is extremely interesting to me. I've finished off most of my general requirements for the IGETC UC Transfer program, but unfortunately I haven't done so well; I'm 68 units in with a 2.9 GPA. I hope that wasn't an overwrought description of my position, but what I stated above is all I know. I don't know what I can do with my current GPA, and the minimum to transfer to a UC is 90 units. I'm definitely going to have to take more units than 90 to get my GPA up to standard, but I don't know how much higher I can get it.

I'm pretty worried that I may have totally damaged my chances, and my even bigger worry is that I shouldn't settle for this major because it doesn't give me a traditional "career trajectory." I don't know which schools I should be looking out for- I know UCLA is considered to be one of the greatest film schools, but sadly I don't think going there is a possibility for me anymore.

If someone reads all of this and takes the time to respond, I truly appreciate that in advance. Any input would really help, I'm really lost!
