Ideas for college graduation presents?

Hi all---Any ideas for college graduation presents?

What’s your price range ?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using CC

I figured my son got a nice gift in his education … so we marked the occasion with a pair of nice cufflinks from his college. (But we also helped him get set up in his apartment, and sponsored a trip for him to play his sport at the world championship level.)

For your own kid or a friend or relative?

Is the person starting a new job or setting up an apartment? If the person going on a vacation?

without details on the recipient the ideas will be from a target gift card to a new car :-)

For D we are getting her a new Garmin (so she can always find her way home to us) and pearls…

For her friends I usually either give cash, or since we are in the bath towels in the college color’s with the name embroidered on it.

He didn’t do a study abroad so we offered him a trip somewhere with a dollar amount that we’d contribute. We like to give ‘experiences’ where possible as gifts to our kids.

One of my sisters brought our daughter to Paris last month for a graduation present. We gave her spending money for the trip. D1 may or may not want a graduation party? She hasn’t expressed a desire for one.

I’m ordering informals (note cards with monograms or full printed names) …to give as gifts to my daughter’s closest friends.

Cash
A Leatherman
A complete tool kit
A car
A job

[College Chairs, Captain’s Chair, Commemorative Chairs , Alumni Chairs, Award Chair, Standard Chair of Gardner](http://www.collegechair.com/) It’s the traditional present in my family.

we’re considering sending S to Europe on an EF guided tour. They’re the one’s who do the high school trips, except they also have ones for adults and college age kids. very reasonably priced and is all inclusive, including a tour guide.

Cash is always good. It could be used for deposits, relocating, traveling for job interviews, etc.

Our campus bookstore has a nice selection of college monogrammed things.

I’m going to ask my D what she would like, offering to help with furnishing her apartment - either a piece of furniture or some kitchen small appliances, possibly a sewing machine.

Let’s expand this to gifts for friends’ kids too…I need ideas!

After I told my parents I had to move across the country for grad school they got me a pair of noise-cancelling headphones for all the long flights I’d be taking to visit them. ;)

Money. No doubt.

Everyone carries either a notebook computer or a tablet. A good, professional looking messenger style bag is a great choice for anyone,

We gave our kids repayment of their college loans for a period of time. The loan payments are a drop in the bucket compared to what we were paying for them to attend. It’s the “gift that keeps on giving”…month after month. They are very appreciative and this frees up some cash from their earnings for other things.

We will do this as long as we can.

^^^^ What a thoughtful gift, Thumper! Great idea.

We always give cash to children of friends.

–Cash
–Diploma frame sold through the school
–My younger son is hinting for the new iPad

For nieces and nephews, I always give a set of good hand tools in a tool bag. The nieces love it!

Thanks for the tip on EF Tours, CheckersMidwest. I was wondering if something like that existed.
