What did you do or recommend doing the summer between Freshman and Sophomore Year?

I did tons of community service that summer to keep myself from getting bored. Plus it is nice to give back.

I volunteered for a children’s program at a local elementary school and developed a really random interest in philosophy. But this was back when I thought I’d be going to the local community college…I didn’t consider doing anything else until a few months into sophomore year.

I took an advanced physics class & worked for my church’s bible camp.

I took precalc, did summer homework, and did lots of community service as well. Use the summer to spend time with friends too, life’s not just about your college app

I made a high school bucket list and tried to full fill it, because, come one you go through all high school only once in a lifetime.

I started volunteering at a local nature museum.

I volunteered for the library, red cross, and a camp for autistic children, about 100 hours total and I studied for the SATs! Pretty boring but…

If you really want to do something, volunteer because hardly any colleges ask about your activities for that summer if that’s what you’re getting at. Other than that, you should enjoy your summer and recharge your brain. It’s one of your last summers that you can do absolutely nothing productive and get away with it!

For the following summers, when you decide that you want to do something, make sure it’s something you love or something you care about so that doing it will be beneficial to you in multiple ways.

Good luck!
