HI,
I submitted my FAFSA and CSS about a month ago, and I never received an IDOC id number. I have 3 schools that do take the IDOC, but haven't received any notice that they needed it or not. The three schools are Northeastern, Boston University, and Cornell University.
So, what should I do? HELP PLEASE! ITS DUE TOMORROW!

You may want to check you email inbox for 2 emails from Collegeboard. The first email with subject as “CCS/PROFILE receipt” which list out your selection of colleges, and which one requires IDOC. The second email with subject as "IDOC Notification - Your Next Step for Financial Aid ", which tell you how to proceed.

My D also applied to Cornell and BU. Both were not listed as IDOC colleges in the first email. In fact, both schools confirmed they have received my FA docs. I did send to them via postal mail or online upload.

It is worth to check your application accounts in these colleges to see if any docs. are required. Most of the FA docs. deadline was 2/15. You may call to confirm, as sometimes, your accounts may not uptodate.

@simonip I checked my emails, and I never received a selection of colleges that require an IDOC. And I never received an email concerning the IDOC Notification. Is this a bad thing?

Hmmm… something is not right. If you have the “CSS/PROFILE Receipt” email, you should have the following verbiage…

Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) Requirement

The following college(s) or scholarship program(s) asked the College Board, through its Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC), to collect additional documents, such as tax returns, from you and your family.

Your college(s) requiring IDOC

Stanford University
Carnegie Mellon University

IDOC processing will begin in early February 2013. At that time you will be emailed instructions on how and where to submit your tax documents. Unless you are instructed otherwise, do not submit your 2012 tax documents directly to the colleges listed above. Wait for your IDOC notification email to arrive, and then follow the instructions. (If you are applying to colleges in addition to those listed above, follow their instructions for submitting tax returns and other documents.)

As I said, BU and Cornell do not require IDOC. Anyway, give CollegeBoard a call to clarify it.

BTW, if you did not receive any emails from Collegeboard at all, is it possible you have another email address or wrong email address in CollegeBoard?

If you did receive the emails, but no such verbiage, it could be the case that all your colleges you have for PROFILE did not require IDOC. Again, check Collegeboard and those colleges to find out.

I just found out that Northeastern used IDOC for verification purposes! Thanks so much for all your help!

You also could just log back into the IDOC website and check the status and everything else.

You don’t need your ID number to log into IDOC. Use your social security number and birth date. Once you log in you can see what documents need to be sent, and who needs them.
