No IDOC notification?

I am accepted to Georgetown University and am trying to figure out how to do the financial aid for it. My family sent in the FAFSA and CSS before the February 1 deadline. About a week ago we got a package in the mail with a green FAFSA form, saying that we had to refill it out. My mom still hasn't done her taxes for this year, so we haven't sent in the new information.

People have been talking about IDOC emails, but the college board never sent me one.. My question is, Do I need to send it in anyways? Is there a strict deadline of getting these forms in? I realize it's late to be worrying about this, but I'm definitely freaking out. Help please?

Does Georgetown USE IDOC? Not very many schools do. If the school uses IDOC, you should have gotten some kind of notice when you filed your Profile telling you that instructions for completing IDOC documentation would follow.

Who sent you the “green FAFSA form”? If the school…they are just reminding you that you must complete taxes (you and your parents) and update the FAFSA to reflect the information from your 2009 tax form. Most schools will only give you an estimated award until you update your finaid applications to reflect that your taxes are filed and the info has been updated to reflect what is on your 2009 tax return.
If you’re not sure, call the school…they will know what they use!!

According to the CollegeBoard website Georgetown does use IDOC. You should have received an email with instructions when you filed your Profile. Check your email (make sure you check whatever email address you provided them, if you have more than one) and check your spam folder. It may have gotten directed there.

If you can’t find it, then call the college(s) on Monday and ask what you should do. It’s probably all going to be okay – just follow up on it right quick.

I wouldn’t trust the CollegeBoard website…they said Wesleyan was IDOC, but it really wasn’t.

Georgetown, also, is not an IDOC school. It’s important to check the school’s website for clarification!

Also, 'rentof2 is correct. You should have gotten an email. Furthermore, after you filed your CSS, the “Acknowledgment” page tells you which schools need IDOC and which schools have other procedures.

If GU doesn’t use IDOC, then for the OP, if they want something from you, they’ll let you know. If they don’t ask for it, then you don’t need to worry about sending it. But, yeah, you could call to confirm if you want. That never hurts.

What i thought Georgetown uses the IDOC? I got this when I submitted my IDOC forms:

The information below tells you the date the College Board made your IDOC documents available to the college(s) that requested them and participate in the IDOC Service. If you are applying to other colleges, you may be asked to send your tax forms directly to them. Follow your colleges’ directions.

Some of the forms listed below can be obtained by clicking on the link provided. Some of the forms are available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and can be downloaded using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

* Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

 • CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE

 • Business/Farm Supplement 10-11
 • Report of Special Circumstances Form 09-10
 • Report of Special Circumstances Form 10-11
 • GU Summer School Aid Application

All undergraduates must submit:

* Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

 • CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE
 • Tax Returns. After you complete the CSS PROFILE you will receive a letter and cover sheet from the College Board that provides instructions for submitting your federal tax returns. You must submit complete copies, including all schedules and W-2 forms, along with the completed and signed cover sheet. When the College Board receives your documents, they will electronically image and transmit your income verification documents to Georgetown. You are required to submit all requested documents in one packet. Do not send documents separately.

Then the OP should have gotten IDOC information for G’town. When we did IDOC, we found the directions to be very clear

I can see why the OP is confused! (Even G’town is confused… cuz there is no where to sign the “signed cover sheet.” ;))
