We received an email from a college asking us to upload documents, however, it also indicated that if we already uploaded documents to IDOC, then the college would be able to access it. Does it mean that any information we submitted can be seen by all colleges?
the only thing IDOC does is gather all of the information in one place. If your question is when colleges access the IDOC, will they know what other schools you are applying to the answer is no.
@sybbie719 thanks. But will one college see the document that another college asks me to submit even they do not know what colleges my kid applies to?
No, they will not. The idol is like a clearing house where stuff is gathered uploaded and scanned for individual schools.
In one of my son’s portals, the school is requesting very specific (non tax related) documentation, along with a school-specific form. The instructions say to upload the files to IDOC, but there is no request within IDOC for these files. I do not want all the schools to get these files. I called IDOC and they told me that ALL schools would indeed be able to see these files. School hasn’t yet replied to my email. School does not seem to have an area on their website for uploading. Any ideas how to handle this?
I’m replying to my own question in case a future cc’er has similar. I emailed the school the docs and they said that was fine. Sometimes schools are picky about submissions this way, but it worked out.
I wanted to ask. If I had already uploaded my documents to before adding more colleges, will those NEW colleges be able to get what they need (since I had already uploaded the documents before adding them) or do I need to upload them again.
Yes. All the docs you’ve uploaded in IDOC should be visible by all colleges that use IDOC. Colleges S21 applied to later in the process all showed those same docs in their checklists.
Thanks.
