IDOC Timing-Late

Hi,
I’m going to be applying on Nov 1 to a college, and have seen that I need to submit IDOC. However, I’ve seen that the deadline to hand it in is the 18th Nov. I’m new to this CommonApp and college submissions process.

Can I submit my CommonApp application by the deadline, and then after a couple days my IDOC? I’m confused because schools say they have to be handed in at the same time but that would be impossible

You are talking about an apple and an orange. The Common App is for admissions and IDOC is for financial aid. Our experience last year was to submit the application, FAFSA, and CSS Profile all in time for the application deadline. The financial aid office requested documents for IDOC through the College Board and CSS Profile. Even though we had the application in before Halloween, we were still right on top of the mid-November deadline submitting follow up financial documentation because as we sent in one thing, it triggered a request for another.

Get your common ap admissions form submitted by the 1st if November. Get your FAFSA and Profile done ASAP but definitely before that deadline of November 18. I would suggest aiming for November 10 to get those done. That’s very doable.

As noted. You submit the common ap for admissions. The FAFSA, Profile and IDOC are for financial aid purposes.

The most important thing is to adhere to the deadlines. Your tag is for Yale…so you need to adhere to the Yale deadlines if that is the school.

Too late to edit or add to above post…but read this:

According to this, the suggested date for SCEA applicants to Yale for financial aid applications is November 10.
