Obviously, neither are majors and both have very similar classes. However, I'm sure it would be a downside to not have good advising for getting into dental schools or lack of connections, etc.

Can one assume that there is a good pre-dental program if the college only says pre-med?

Thanks

You don’t really need “connections” to get into dental school, as pre-med programs rarely include “connections” either. Pre-med advising usually consists of class choices and helping students choose an appropriate list of schools, perhaps help writing an essay/statement, etc. The advisers may know less about dental school, but I think you can assume that most good schools have someone who has some knowledge about dental school requirements.
