Pre med and Pre dentistry

I'm confused about what exactly pre-med and pre-dentistry are. Could someone explain in detail? Is it a bunch of subjects you take that together can be called pre-med/ pre-dentistry?

And which Canadian universities offer them?

Some colleges or universities have a “pre med” major. Other colleges, like Rhodes, offer traditional majors like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Neuroscience, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, etc. and provide pre-professional advising. That means we make sure you know what the requirements are for med/vet/dental/do/whatever school and help you fulfill them.

So basically when I’m applying, I just select Life Sciences as the major I opt for? And then I apply into a med or dentistry school after three years?

In the U.S. you typically get your undergrad degree before going to medical school. So you would be applying in your senior year. I understand that pharmacy is a little different in some places, and I don’t know what the story is in Canada.

Ultimately I’d suggest that you ask if there is a pre-med advisor at the college you’re interested in going to, and get your advice from that person. He or she will be the most knowledgable about the subject. In fact, whether or not there even is a pre-med advisor might be one factor you use in selecting a college.

Alright. Thank you so much.
