I have a low C in AP Biology because AP Calculus AB is eating up all of my study time and I have college essays to write and proofread. Is this a good trade-off in the long run?
As with many things, the answer is - it depends.
I always advise students choosing senior classes not to overlook the hidden class of College Applications when making course selections, but on the flip side, many students successfully juggle multiple AP classes with writing essays. At the end of the day though, I can’t see how a “low C” will do you any favors in the long run.
This is why I tell my kids to begin those essays in the summer when the prompts are released. . but they don’t listen to me, of course. So yeah, fall of senior year can really be crunch time if not properly planned out. Some kids can handle it, but I wouldn’t advise testing that theory. AP can be significantly more challenging than honors so it makes sense to factor that additional time commitment in when thinking about college applications and senior course load.
