If HADES is the BS equivalent of HYP+MS...

You aren’t alone in your concerns.

I think blunt was needed and they’ve reached a cross roads where I really believe those concerns are being vetted in a way that wasn’t true in previous years. The phone call to me as a follow up to discussions on campus was unsolicited. Years ago, they might not have cared. I think something’s changed and they appear to be listening (and soliciting) ways to improve the campus climate.

I do appreciate it that I am not alone in feeling this way.

I truly loved the school which my daughter attends. There have been so many in your face examples of this type of treatment there, and so hurtful were they, that my wife ultimately said, “if they want to treat it as a business, we can treat it as a business, too”.

I still have much gratitude to the school for what they have given my daughter. This makes the conflict all the more difficult.

Bumping for new crop of applicants…

@Tofu: Next time try to post something that adds value to the thread.

Serious question: why is is a “triple whammy?”

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk (still using it in spite of its limitations and limitations).

3 factors that may make admission more difficult (due to theorized demographics of applicant pool), thus termed “triple whammy”

female
Asian
needs FA

The reason more people apply to HADES is because of the preconceived notion that they will get a better education or a better chance getting into Ivies. Plus, saying that you went to Exeter or Hotchkiss gives some students more “bragging rights” than going to Portsmouth Abbey or Tabor.

^ Neither of those reasons are really the best for choosing a school.

While I agree with you that those 2 reasons ARE a factor (and maybe THE factor) for many of the students (and parents!!), I still caution those in the application stage NOT to eliminate a potential good fit solely based on the fact that they may not be “HADES” schools…
