If I don't have any publications...

I don't have any publications but I've been thinking about uploading a couple of product inserts for the R&D projects I worked on, to the section in the applications that ask for "any supporting documents." Now, I did not write any of these product inserts, but I did work extensively on the project and helped develop/improve the product. Is this inappropriate? Disingenuous? My rationale is it a) gives me something to upload in that section other than a CV (lol), and b) gives the adcoms a chance to see what I worked on, w/o me having to dilineate it in excrutiating detail in my personal statement. However, I don't want to get kicked out of school for them thinking that I lied about something in my application (if it actually counts as lying).

I've also considered making a note that I did not write any part of the insert, but I don't know where to put that. If I don't say anything, they'll probably have no way of knowing if I wrote it or not. It's a company document so there's no names on it.

My supervisor who is writing me a letter of recommendation said it'd probably be okay as long as the section of the app isn't explicitly labeled, "Publications." But of course - I'd like to know what you guys think. Lol, thanks.

Also, I just checked the 2 product inserts and they are dated 2004 and 2008, which is clearly before I even started working at the company. Is this a red flag? Bad idea then? Hmmm…

Talk about your work you did on the product in your SOP. Don’t submit the product inserts.

bump - I’d love more opinions, thanks.

Agree with everything Momwaitingfornew said. It makes NO SENSE to me that you want to include the product inserts in your application.

As a side note – if you get advice from Momwaitingfornew, you don’t really need any other opinions :)

Because of these 700 word limits or worse, 1000 character word limits, for Research Experience, which ask you to talk about a few different things - I can’t even spare a brief sentence to *mention *the technical details of the products I worked on. The inserts, however, do. That’s why I thought including them might be helpful.
